An innovative monthly educational program designed to ignite creativity and discovery in young artists ages 9-14. This hands-on learning experience uses artworks from the Hilliard's permanent collection and exhibitions as inspiration, with the inaugural year focusing on portraiture through the lens of master artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida Kahlo, and Andy Warhol, as well as Louisiana artists including Charles St. Julian and Tom Secrest. Through a "learning through making" approach, kids not only study art history but actively create their own unique masterpieces. Advanced registration required.
The Hilliard also invites local educators to Educators First Look, September 13th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to meet the museum’s education team, experience artmaking in connection with current exhibitions, and learn more about how to engage their students with museum visits and activities in the 2025-2026 school year. Complimentary snacks plus a complimentary restorative yoga session at 11 a.m. will be offered. Present a current school ID to receive free entrance to the museum.
